When ordering the listing for "Pen Only" it really means "Pen Only." I later had to order the needles in order to use my pen when I had received it. The pen has a good steal holding area which I ordered to be green. It does come with batteries. The pen is slightly awkward to handle as the end of the pen holding the batteries is a little bulky. It did come with instructions on how to use the pen - very helpful. It is a little tricky to use as far as tattooing goes, but I think practice, practice, practice will go a long way in the skill of tattooing.
